Writing Intensives

Memoir

Life is unruly. It's what my students would call a 'hot mess.' Inside of us is a multitude of memories bouncing around in our heads, haunting us, bringing us joy or remorse. These memories are nuggets of so many stories. Our lives are a collection of experiences, but to sit down and write it all down can be a daunting endeavor. Where to start? Who to include? What to include? How to put language to emotion? Or, a favorite question: why would anyone want to read about my life? In this workshop, we will begin to shape our lives onto the page, one element at a time. Each session will cover a new topic, such as place, characters, time and timelessness, structure, and voice. By the end of this intensive, participants will leave with the necessary components to write their lives, and perhaps, see their lives in new enlightening ways.

Class meets in person Monday through Friday, November 2 - 6, 9 am - noon.

Class size: Minimum 5, maximum 15.
