In this session, Adam Sleper will cover the basics of screenwriting including narrative, character, scene-building, and more. Adam will discuss the anatomy of a scene, structure, and character development. Participants will leave with a list of mostly free resources for beginning screenwriters.

Adam Sleper is a professional writer originally from Omaha. Adam earned a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska and an M.A. in English from Boston College, and spent a semester at Oxford University in England studying Shakespeare. Adam is a Launch Pad Prose 100 and multiple Illinois artists grant recipient. As a screenwriter, he is a Page and Austin Film Fest finalist and has had multiple scripts score top 1% on the prestigious Black List. He is in the process of completing his second novel manuscript. Adam's publications include  Literal Latte,   The Denver Post , and  Midwest Review. He lives outside of Chicago with his wife, a civil rights attorney, their two kids, and an adorable dog.
