This four-week class is a generative workshop with the target of writing poems of no more than 14 lines. We will consider what formal elements might heighten the impact of free verse and will look at what makes a poem memorable: first lines, last lines, music, meaning.

Class meets in person Tuesdays, 6 - 8 pm:

Teaching Artist: Donna Hilbert's latest book is  Threnody , from Moon Tide Press. Earlier books include  Gravity : New and Selected Poems  (Tebot Bach, 2018). She is a monthly contributing writer to the on-line journal  Verse-Virtual. Her work has appeared in  The Los Angeles TimesBraided WayChiron ReviewSheila-Na-Gig , and numerous anthologies. She writes and leads private workshops in Southern California.
