Emily Small is a journalist with Door County Knock, a local non-profit digital news outlet with an investigative bent. She is a Report for America Corps Member as well, and previously was a reporter and columnist for the Washington Island Observer. She has a B.A. in English from Carthage College, followed by a 15 year career as a hairstylist, until landing in journalism. She grew up in and around Milwaukee and has lived on Washington Island with her family year-round for the last 16 years
